Quality of life or in other words life satisfaction; including everything from physical health, family, education, employment, wealth, finance and the environment. Let’s talk about the physical aspect. Which small physical related changes can you make for a better quality of life?

Although napping can be very nice and sometimes needed, try to do a short workout instead. A workout will release endorphins, increase your energy and so wake you up.

Feeling sore and can’t seem to get the nots out of your muscles. Spend some time on the foam roller instead or before you do some static stretching. When you’re not used it, it can be a bit uncomfortable but it’s totally worth it!

Probably not the first time you’ve heard this but if you can, take the stairs rather than the escalator. It’s the little things you can do which make your life more active.

Why not go paddle boarding, snorkelling, do a bush walk with a picnic or a harbour walk, and finish with a glass of red watching the sunset. Do something different and by keeping it active, it will feel more rewarding as well.

You see them more and more these days. Why not make the switch to a standing desk, burn more daily calories hopefully reduce your back pain.

Try alternating between sitting on your desk chair and on a fit-ball throughout the day (20 to 30 minutes on the fit ball at a time, as sitting on a ball creates an increased load on the lumbar (lower back) spine and can cause discomfort over time). Make sure the ball is fully inflated, at the correct height and that you sit up straight. Sitting properly on the ball requires subtle muscle contractions of the core, hip and leg muscles to maintain balance, which contribute to muscle tone.

Getting tired at work and feel your body needs another coffee? Try and wait for a bit, grab a chilled glass of water and go for a quick walk around the office.

First of all, there’s nothing wrong with a jog. But depending on your goals and time schedule a 20-min high intensity interval workout might be more beneficial. Give it a try!
